Polibienestar Institute of the University of Valencia

POLIBIENESTAR (http://www.polibienestar.org) is a Public Research Institute belonging to the University of Valencia (Spain) leaded by Jordi Garcés, Prince of Asturias Distinguished Visiting Professor at Georgetown University, with more than thirty years of experience in training and research. It is specialized in research, innovation and social technology, technical advice and training in the field of public policies and assessment in issues regarding: social inclusion; social and health systems; informal caregivers; healthcare, telemonitoring and homecare; social welfare; assistive technologies for dependent elderly; sustainability, ICT, efficiency and quality of long-term care systems; and accessibility.
Polibienestar is composed by an interdisciplinary team with 24 senior and 18 junior researchers with national and European experience in several areas.
Additionally, Polibienestar has a large network of European contacts due to its participation in European networks and active role in European research and policy design.
Polibienestar participates actively in two Action Groups of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing promoted by the European Commission: B3 Capacity building and replicability of successful integrated care systems based on innovative tools and services and D4 Innovation for age-friendly buildings, cities and environments. In the D4 action group, Polibienestar leads the ICT group that tries to increase the environment accessibility through ICT solutions and the spatial accessibility group that tries to respond to the accessibility requirements of elderly in the urban environment. In both groups, Polibienestar is working with the European Commission in the design of the strategic future lines of action at European level.
